News Flash!!!

This just in: The incomparable Dallas is now a full-fledged partner in the prestigious Heaton Family Blog. When asked how he felt about this historic occasion, Dallas said: "Well, I suppose it's an honor slightly past due - I mean, I did invent the 'blog' and as inventor of said technology it's only appropriate that I have one, right?" Yes Dallas, you are right, and we are all very thankful for this stupendous blog and all lesser blogs worldwide. To celebrate this event Dallas reached yet another milestone: he single-handedly prepared and cooked two delicious pizzas from a Chef Boyardee pizza kit! "It was a sticky and grueling task, but I hung in there when the going got rough and gave 110%."

So, a whole month has gone by so fast again. We are falling in love with Arizona. Dallas loves his classes and lessons. He is getting busier with work and people are falling in love with him. He is just so talented and it means a lot to people who are in need of an accompanist. He is accompanying for music students at ASU as well as Mesa Community College. He is even scheduled to perform his first recital on November 9th, if anyone is interested in coming to visit. We would love any visitors!! I am getting to know more people in the ward. Sister Lesuer and her daughters have taken good care of us by letting us know all the places to shop and things to do. They have also invited us to go swimming 2 times. Dallas got called as the ward organist (big surprise!) and so that has forced some people to get to know us because I have to have help with the kids. They are seriously crazy at church. It is right during their nap time. We were also asked to speak in church, so that was an experience. I haven't given a talk since I was in Young Womens. It was scary. Dallas did great and we learned a lot. Everyone was shocked when Dallas introduced himself and told the ward he was married with three kids. They thought he was about 17. Even the ward missionary came over and asked him if his mom was home when Dallas opened the door. We are kind of out of place being so young and with so many kids here, but I am learning that friends don't have to be exactly in the same boat as you. I am so glad I am here with the people I love the most!

Before we moved, Celeste organized to have some family pictures taken, and we just got the CD. Our family doesn't look too great in any of them, but it is nice to have nonetheless.

Dallas has been taking more naps than Sophie lately!

I also got my hair cut and I tried to take a picture of it to show it off, but it isn't a great picture, so sorry. I also have bangs, but had decided to pull them back this day.

Sophie is getting really independant. She has learned that she doesn't have to be obedient, and that is frustrating to me. Still, she is sweetheart. She will always tell Dallas and me, I love you. It absolutely melts my heart! She says such funny things too. One day when we went out to go to the Library, it was about 107 degrees out and Sophie said, "Oh Mom, it is nice and warm outside!" Then, yesterday when I took them on a walk we saw some horses. One came up really close and she said, "The horse just has the wind in its ears." See, she has this book about a wild little horse that wants to see the world and at one point it says, "And the little horse has the wind in his ears, Whistling wind is all he hears." The horse was just standing there. And on that same walk we heard a bunch of dogs start barking behind a fence. Sophie said, "Is that Grandma's house?" Okay, that may be a little inside joke for those who know Dallas' mom. She is such a funny kid.

Penny

Penny is officially 2! And, boy, is she 2! She has an amazing ability to get you to get her what she wants, and I am not even sure how. Just yesterday she woke up from her nap and was just crying. I asked her what she wanted and a few minutes later she was fine. In the interim she had told me she wanted to sit on the potty seat, but not in her bathroom, in mine. Afterwards I was recounting the experience to Dallas and I couldn't even figure out how I knew what she wanted. She is also all about Princesses these days. I think there is a serious Princess epidemic affecting girls these days!

Gabe

Gabe is growing up so much! He is pulling himself up on everything! He still doesn't really crawl, but he is fast scooting on his tummy especially when he sees something that catches his eye like computer cords, hair on Dallas' legs, or the girls' toys. It is funny how suddenly none of his toys interest him. He is sleeping great at night, with the exception of a few nights. He is generally a happy baby except at church and any other time when we want him to be quiet! He is really into snuggling right now, and I love that!

A favorite activity of the girls is to make beds. They can get pretty elaborate, as you can see!

Penny's first haircut

I swore I would never cut Penny's bangs because I had cut Sophie's and hated it. But, as you can see, her hair was always in her eyes, so I broke down and did it. She was really shy at first. It was really cute. They are not perfect, but I think she is much happier now that she can always see.

Penny's Birthday!

Penny turned 2 on September 7th. She got tons of presents from Aunts and Uncles and Grandmas and Grandpas. She loved them all, especially a tea set, a barbie toothbrush, Cinderella dishes (Sophie has the same set and they both have to use them everyday!), puzzles, and a little Cinderella barbie. She carried her birthday cards around for days. Sophie had a really hard time with the fact that it was Penny's birthday. After we sang Happy Birthday to Penny, she said that now we needed to sing to her.

It is so fun to see the kids interact with one another. Sophie is definately in charge and Penny tries to copy EVERYTHING she does! She also loves to read Penny and Gabe books.

Feeding Baby Gabe is a family affair!! (Well, I assure you Dallas has nothing to do with it!!) Gabe has turned a new leaf and absolutely loves eating solids! I can't eat anything while I am holding him without him screaching until I give him a bite.

Sometimes I wonder if it was fair to my kids to have them all so close in age because they all need me so much. But then I see Penny sneak a toy to Sophie who is in the "Naughty Corner." Or I see Gabe just giggle as he watches his sisters dance. And Sophie begs to sit by Baby Gabe at the table and try to get him to smile at her or she will go find Penny's blankie and puppy if Penny starts to cry. I am just so happy that they have each other.
