Dallas is in California right now on a choir tour. We took him early in the morning to get on the Star Bus. I think Sophie thinks he is still on that bus. On the way there Sophie said, "Daddy, where is you going at?" To which Dallas replied, "Sophie, your grammar is horrible!" Sophie replied knowingly, "Oh, yes." She also cried all the way home. She hates goodbyes and loves her Daddy. I am missing him like crazy. I never knew one could get homesick at home.

The kids have been getting along better, well, some times. Sophie is kind of like the mediator between Gabe and Penelope. Those two are constantly competing for my attention or the same toys. They seriously all played together on the bed that day for at least a half an hour. That has to be a record! I am hopeful that it will only get better.

Disclaimer: Penelope chose her own clothes this day.
Sophie and Penelope love singing together and "playing" the piano. It reminds me of my girlhood days at the piano with Katie. We were obviously much older and probably less cute, but it was a good time nonetheless.

We were so happy to get a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Stephens. They came to get some nice Arizona sun. It was so good to see them, even though Sophie was a little concerned that they had not brought Nick, their cat, with them.

So, I am a little bit of a cheater. You see, my photography class is all film, so I take pictures with our digital camera first to test and then take with my film camera. I have come to determine that film is a lot more challenging than digital in many ways. My class is really fun, though. I made my first enlargement last week. I am thinking I need to be a little more creative and not just take pictures of my kids! Oh well, they are just so cute!

Here are the puppies after their wonderful concert! These puppies each have a little voice and a big personality (aka Dallas), and impressed all of us by playing the piano. What would life be like without them? I don't even want to know!

Sophie is quite the artist these days. She loves mainly drawing herself, but sometimes she will draw Dallas and Penelope, too. Here is a self portrait. The second picture is her classic kitty face. She does this and licks her hands all the time. It is pretty disgusting. Kind of cute, but mostly not. She is already reminding me that her birthday is coming up. (Not until July, but it is the next in our family.) Sophie is really into asking what words spell. She also has an amazing imagination. Yesterday we were outside and I said it was time to go in. She said, "No, Mommy, let's just think out here for a little bit. I am going to think that I am a princess with butterfly wings and I am going to fly all over the mud so I don't get muddy." (We have a big muddy spot in the courtyard of our apartment complex.) She has also been so great at cleaning up lately. Seriously, 90% of the time she picks up with me only having to ask once, or she sometimes even does it by herself so she can play with something new. She also is a great help with Gabe. A few days ago she said, "I love baby Gabe! He is the bestest baby I have ever seen in the whole world!" She loves to make him smile and tells me what he wants when he cries. ("You need to nurse baby Gabe." "Baby Gabe is poopy." etc.)

Penelope is fully potty-trained. It is so nice. She is even dry at nights, now. She is also talking so much more. She says things like, "purple, bath, purple, blankie, purple, puppy, and purple." Yes, about every other word is purple because she points out everything in the world that is purple! She loves being outside so much. She just has a breakdown every time we have to come back in. She is also the most stubborn kid I have ever met. The other day she was looking in the fridge and I told her to get out. She said,"NO!" So I pretended I was going to shut her in, thinking she would run right out, but oh no! She smiled at me and stayed right where she was. Now, I thought I will just squish her, just a little bit, then she will get out. Still nothing. I squished her a little more and she acted like I wasn't even there. I finally just gave up and picked her up. She is also getting almost even more girly than Sophie, if that is possible.

Gabriel is so grown up these days. He will take up to about 5 steps, but he still prefers crawling. He thinks his sisters are so funny. He also wants to be right in the middle of everything they do, which is not always what they want! I also finally weaned him, which has been really nice. He is just one of the kids, now.
