Sophie learned how to ride her tricycle. She was surprisingly not very good at it. I thought she would pick it up really quick. She couldn't pedal without watching her feet, and so she would never watch where she was going.

To all faithful readers of the prodigious Heaton Family Blog©, an announcement.
Be it known that Dallas strongly dislikes music on blogs that starts automatically. This is annoying and frustrating, and leaves me little desire to return to the blog. (The sole exception to this might be Katie's blog due to her impeccable musical taste, but even that can be frustrating when I am already listening to music.)
Thank you for your understanding - I feel better now. Until next time, faithful blog-friends. May the asteroids continue to miss our planet and the rabbits propagate!

Well, I guess it is time to update all you on our excitingness. By the way, I borrowed the "ness" idea from Sophie. She is all about making adjectives into nouns by adding "ness." But, lets start with Dallas: busy. Me? Also busy. And of course the kids are busy, I mean, they are kids. Dallas is finishing up his first year at Arizona State University. He is extremely busy practicing, working with others, working at MCC (Mesa Community College), writing "model" papers (as his teacher put it), playing games on his new laptop, taking care of the kids while I am busy with my stuff, getting at least a 4.0 GPA (Did I mention he got a 4.08 last semester?), reading linguistic books, trying to plan his trip to Austria, and making me the happiest woman in the world. He is quite amazing. He is actually still trying to make his recital happen this semester so he doesn't have to worry about it over the summer and so he doesn't have to find a new cellist. So, keep your fingers crossed, it will be the first week of May. We just need to find a place to have it, but none of the respectable places are getting back to him.
I am also trying to finish up the semester. I have a project due in my photography class on Wednesday and a presentation planned for my history class on Monday. These have both been very time consuming, especially my photography stuff. I initially was going to do my final project on my kids, you know, so I could have nice pictures of them. It was fine, but not as interesting as I had hoped, so I decided to take pictures of Alice, the cat lady. She has become very special to me. I have spent a lot of time taking pictures of her. I am thinking about taking pictures of the pictures to post them on the blog, but I will just have to see. But Dallas has been a sport to let me go to visit Alice whenever I can, or to go to the photography lab. I will be excited for classes to be over, but obviously sad, too. I have certainly loved this semester. I am also trying to get ready for our move. Wow, it is coming soon.
The kids are doing really well. The girls are getting so creative and fun. The other day they were playing house with each other. Sophie was the mom and Penelope the daughter. "If you want a treat, you have to eat all your tomatoes." "You have to take a nap if you want to play outside later." "I will take your blankie away if you don't hurry and pick up." And I thought I didn't bribe my kids.... They are getting more manageable in some ways and on some days. I actually feel like I can do things I want to do.
We are looking forward to an exciting summer! Firstly, our great friends, the Rondeau's are coming to visit!! YIPEE! We are so excited to see them. Lilia and Gabriel are just a week apart and I am so excited to see them together again; it has been nearly a year. We just all have such a blast together. After they leave us, we will be moving up to Rexburg for the summer. Dallas will work at BYU-Idaho as he did last year. I will be taking one class there. Dallas will leave mid-July for Austria. I am hoping to use this time to take advantage of all my family. I am hoping to have my niece Amanda stay a bit with me, if she is still willing. We will definitely beg for help from our Utah family, and Mindy, sorry, but you are going to be close and I am going to need the help! I am sure I will be just fine, but it will be for nearly a month, so I am a little worried. Oh, and Julie, if you could have your baby around this time, that would really work out for me.
Them it will be back to Arizona for the fall semester. Dallas will begin his second year of his Master's degree. I will be taking the last two classes that I need for my associates! Yeah for me, I am going to have a degree! I am pretty excited. I have more respect for Dallas now that I am just barely finishing my associates.
So, well, that is our lives in a nutshell. We are sad to leave our new friends here, but excited to see those we love.

Meet SmallBeast, our new laptop! It has been nice to have 2 computers, even though we really just need it for Dallas' trip to Austria this summer. In fact I am posting on our blog on the big computer while Dallas is blog-hopping.

Gabriel is growing up so fast! I actually think he is a little bit of a genius because I am pretty sure he can say "mama, nana (banana), baaaaah (ball), puhhh (Puppy-Bear), dada (daddy?), MOOOOOOOEEE (MORE!)," and he can grunt for anything else he wants. Now, you have to understand that Penelope and Sophie were both about 2 before they said much, so I am pretty proud. He is such a mama's boy. Seriously.

Yesterday was a busy day for both Dallas and me. We did the old switcharoo with the kids. The kids and I ate lunch at the Rose Park at Mesa Community College. It was really nice there in the shade and it smelled glorious. We even got followed by a hummingbird. I tried to take a picture, but that little bugger was fast!

Penelope seems to be picking up on Sophie's moves. She is actually talking so much these days. She usually has a cute little raspy voice, which I can only imagine due to her screaming fits. She is such a fun gal, though. She loves to copy Sophie. I have decided to grow out her bangs, at least for a while. I will see what I think after a few months.

Sophie and Penelope have a lot of fun together. I really hope they will always love each other. I am just now realizing what a blessing it is to have sisters. I think I have taken it for granted all along. I would love, love to live close to any of my sisters. Lucky for me, and possibly unluckily for Mindy, I get to live in Rexburg for a few months this summer. I still can't believe we both lived in Rexburg for about a year right after Dallas and I got married and I don't even really remember doing anything with the Rowley's. Ahh, to be a newlywed!

The girls are definitely growing into wonderful artists! Here are just two samples: Sophie with her happy sunshine and Penelope's picture of her, Puppy, and Daddy. Penelope is the one with the big head, the puppy is the small circle in the bottom middle, and Daddy is the one who appears to be wearing glasses. Those are actually just his arms growing out of his eyes. Gabe is definitely asking Santa for a doodle for Christmas. I can hardly wait to see his talent emerge!

What is wrong with the first of these pictures? Actually, Dallas is the best hair-brusher in the house. If he isn't around after bath time, the girls often go without getting their hair brushed. So don't worry, just because Dallas' hair is getting beastly long, he hasn't stolen the princess brush..... yet.
